As you all know, AIDS has faded from public consciousness. Many people believe the crisis ended years ago. But the reality is very different. We have made amazing progress, but that progress is very fragile. There is a real risk that our progress will stall or perhaps even go backwards. Now is most definitely not the time for complacency!
To help re-invigorate the global response to AIDS, we are working on a documentary film about the future of the AIDS epidemic. Titled “How We Lost the War Against AIDS,” the film is set in the year 2030, a hypothetical future when AIDS has made a strong resurgence. World leaders are trying to understand what went wrong, especially since we had thought in 2015 that we were on track to end the epidemic. The film ends with a reminder that it is not yet 2030, so there is still time to change the future and end the AIDS epidemic.
The documentary will be released in July 2018, following a series of Public Service Announcements beginning on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2017. Thanks to support from people like you, we have produced a trailer. The next step is to start producing the PSAs, which will require about $50,000. We are hoping to raise a large part of that through crowdfunding. That’s where you come in. You can help by doing the following:
- Go to our website, WarAgainstAIDS.org
- Watch the trailer. I hope you find it compelling.
