Reformed Church in Zambia

158 Congregations


We have now completed the workshop series for the Reformed Church in Zambia, a total of sixteen workshops, one per presbytery. The results:

  • Over 400 leaders from 158 congregations have been trained
  • Over 100,000 church members have heard multiple sermons about Christian compassion for AIDS victims
  • Over 8,000 victims are receiving emotional support and guidance for positive living

    Plan for 2010-2011

    Encouraged by the results from the RCZ workshops, EMPACT Africa is now planning two more projects:

  • During 2011, we will conduct a series of workshops with the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian in Zambia. This will involve about 300 local church leaders in about 100 congregations.
  • Beginning in mid-2011, we will conduct a set of workshops with a coalition of churches in South Africa. We expect this project to involve several thousand local church leaders in about a thousand congregations.

    We will track the results from these projects to determine whether the effect on the stigma is similar to the effect we have seen with the Reformed Church in Zambia.
